Paul was born in Norwich in 1977. As a child he would perform for family and friends by putting on comedy shows inventing characters and doing impersonations. He was often asked up in front of school assembly to do impersonations. Despite the passion to perform at an early age, Paul never pursued his talent further until he began comparing local event nights. He thought the run of the mill local quiz presenters were dull and so started hosting quiz nights but adding comedy and impersonations to the event. He once compared a whole event as 'Ali G'. This led to Paul entering local amateur dramatics at the age of 26. He quickly established himself as an in demand actor and landed large roles in back to back productions.
